Studio Coordinator

Avataq Cultural Institute is a non-profit organization, created in 1980, dedicated to protecting and promoting the Language and Culture of the Inuit of Nunavik. The organization has its head office in Inukjuak, Nunavik, and an administrative office in Montréal.

Ivujivimmi Takuminartuliurvik is a new printmaking studio based in Ivujivik. It’s a space dedicated to creation where using members comes to do printmaking, drawing, small exhibition or art sales and welcome workshops and artist in residency.

AVATAQ is currently seeking a professional and dynamic candidate for the following position: Studio Coordinator (Ivujivik).

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Nunavik Arts Secretariat, the Studio Coordinator oversees daily operations and activities at Ivujivimmi Takuminartuliurvik. The person is also in charge to develop the programming for the Studio.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on revenues/expenses and basic accounting (invoices, purchase order, payment claims, etc.)
  • Purchase art supply, tools, cleaning supply, etc.
  • Support Aumaaggiivik coordination in fundraising activities.
  • Monitor maintenance requests under the supervision of the Aumaaggiivik Director.
  • Open/Close the studio at opening hours.
  • Assist the artists working in the studio. Ensure a safe and clean environment. Apply the Studio’s policies.
  • Inventory and manage art supply (follow up on the orders, inventory, delivery, shipment, distribution to artists, etc.)
  • Implement training activities for artists, working with other organization.
  • Coordinate locally artist in residency in Ivujivik and welcome partners. Offer occasionally programming for the community like small exhibitions with openings, sale events, etc.

Job requirements:

  • Secondary five.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in relevant fields. Experience in artistic field, an asset.
  • Proficiency in office tools.
  • Bilingual: Inuktitut and English or French. Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate events or workshops related to artistic development.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently.
