Archaeology

Since 1985, the Archaeology Department has led efforts to identify, study, protect, and promote Nunavik’s rich archaeological heritage, with a focus on the ancestors and predecessors of the Inuit. With over 30 years of experience, the department holds unique, leading expertise in the region.

Each year, we carry out research projects driven by regional priorities and local requests. Community-based initiatives—such as collaborative studies, youth field schools, and outreach—ensure our work reflects the values and interests of Nunavik communities.
